If sounds that you hear in this stack (or any stack) sound "scratchy", don't worry. There's nothing wrong with your speaker.
HyperCard can't read sounds from a floppy disk fast enough to have them play smoothly. They get broken up because HyperCard plays the sound faster than it can read it from the floppy.
This is never a problem on a hard disk. And if you play the sound a second time, it usually sounds OK since it it already resides in RAM.
